I learned about this book from Amanda and it has been so helpful! The author validates how overhelming this experience can be and gently guides the reader through the process. It helps breakdown the homeschooling curricula, learning and teaching styles and so much more. Chapter 2 alone explains all the different approaches out there like traditional, Charlotte Mason, classical, unschooling/relaxed homeschooling, independent study and more. This resource is helping me just piece together all the different words I've been hearing, gives them a definition and guides the pros/cons including how each can be integrated into the daily routine. There is an update version of this book available online! https://cathyduffyreviews.com/#

Great book indeed!
I am whole heartedly against a “one size fits all curriculum” and advise you purchase curriculum sparingly. It’s easy to become a collector of curriculum or blow your budget.
If you want to compare what children in the public schools are learning, I am happy to show you that, but use with caution because even the schools don’t cover all their standards. I also like to look at Waldorf schools and Montessori school’s “scope and sequence”. I use that to help me create a scope and sequence for my child’s year - leaving lots of flexibility for interest led and emergent learning. Then I piece together activities to meet those learning goals - foregoing the need to “buy a curriculum”.
You have the freedom and flexibility to create your homeschool - it can be daunting but also SO liberating and empowering! You got this!!!
